Scott Ogle Lead Pastor scott@cbcwinchester.com

Scott grew up in East Tennessee. In 1994 he enrolled in the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY where he obtained a bachelor’s degree and met his wife, Lana Logan. Together they have been partners in vocational ministry since 1995. During that time, Scott earned two master’s degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with concentrations in leadership and church revitalization. Prior to his call to Central Baptist, he pastored churches in Kentucky, Georgia, and South Carolina.

Scott and Lana have 2 adult children: a son, Micaiah and a daughter, Abby. In addition to their love for the church, the Ogles enjoy rooting for Tennessee football and Kentucky basketball, tackling home improvement projects, vacations at the beach, playing cards with friends and most recently, disc golf.

Colossians 1:24-28 is a passage that articulates much of what drives their ministry. “Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church, of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.”

Michael’s favorite passage of scripture is from Romans 12:1-2, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Trask Murphy Next Generation Pastor trask@cbcwinchester.com

Trask Murphy is originally from Madisonville, Kentucky where he felt the call to vocational gospel ministry at the age of 16. He went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pastoral Ministry from Campbellsville University in 2012 and completed a Master of Divinity in Christian Ministry from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2018. Trask has spent the last 14 years serving churches throughout Central Kentucky in a variety of pastoral roles.

Trask and his lovely wife Rebekah have been blessed with two beautiful children, Piper and Asher. He is a lover of many things including: books, sports, music, movies, board games, escape rooms, national parks, good food, and time with his family. Above all, Trask’s greatest passion is to see Christ glorified & lives changed through the transformative power of God’s Word.

A guiding verse for Trask’s ministry is Acts 20:24, “But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”

Nathan H. Platt Worship & Media Pastor nathan@cbcwinchester.com

Nathan grew up in Northern Kentucky and attended Berea College where he met his bride, Janie Jessee. They were married in 1993 and have been blessed throughout three decades of ministry together. Nathan obtained a bachelor’s degree in music from Berea, a master’s degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Northern Colorado and completed his doctoral studies in Church Music at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Thereafter, Dr. Platt joined the faculty of Boyce College and was privileged to assist in the development of the degree in Worship and Music Studies. After a dozen years of teaching and service in Louisville, Nathan and his family moved to Detroit, Michigan where they devoted themselves to local church ministry from 2010-2018.  They returned to Kentucky in 2022 and are humbled to have the opportunity to continue their ministry at Central Baptist Church.

Nathan and Janie have 2 wonderful adult children: Johnathan and Hannah.  In addition to their love of music, the Platts enjoy spending time with friends—both old and new—hosting folks in their home and all kinds of outdoor recreational activity: biking, camping, fishing, hunting, and gardening. They are so grateful for the faithfulness and kindness God has shown them through the years. The following passage from Psalm 33:1-4 is one of their favorites and directs much of their vision for worship ministry.

“Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise Him! Praise the Lord with the harp; make music to Him on the ten-stringed lyre. Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy! For the word of the Lord is right and true; He is faithful in all He does.”

Marc Mclean Administrative Pastor marc@cbcwinchester.com

Marc grew up in eastern Shelby County, playing drums for his family’s southern gospel group. In 2002, he felt God calling him to student ministry and began his first ministry at Parkway Baptist Church in Lexington, where he met his wife, Amy. While serving in Lexington, Marc received his bachelor’s degree from Liberty University.

In 2011, Marc and Amy were led to serve Black Mountain Baptist Church in Cave Creek, Arizona. During the 6 years in AZ, Marc began work on his master’s degree at Phoenix Seminary. The Lord called Marc and his family to return to Kentucky in 2017 when he became the Senior Pastor of Calvary Baptist in Irvine. Then in 2019, God opened the door to begin his ministry at Central Baptist.

Marc and Amy have 3 children: Abby, Mason, and Emily. Their son-in-law, Travis, is married to Abby and they have blessed Marc with his first grand-baby, Hadley. Marc enjoys time with family and friends. He loves music of all kinds, especially classic rock and southern gospel. He roots for UK, the NY Yankees, and the Buffalo Bills. Typically, when not at home or work, you will find Marc out at the local disc golf course.

Marc’s favorite Bible passage is Philippians 2:1-4, "So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."

Carol Willian Children’s Ministry Director carolw@cbcwinchester.com

Growing up, my parents told me about God’s abundant love. They instilled in me how much God cares for me and how I was created to worship Him. I have always loved going to church. I am so thankful, and blessed beyond measure, for the spiritual development my parents poured into me.

While obtaining a college degree in Elementary and Preschool Education, I married my high school sweetheart, Lewis. Together, we began a life of mentoring children and youth within the Clark County School System for 27 years. After retirement, Lewis became a full-time Professor of Education at Asbury University in Wilmore and I joined the staff of Central Baptist. Together, we enjoy serving in the preschool and children’s ministries here at church.

God has blessed us with two wonderful children, Matthew and Julie. It warms our hearts to watch them seek God’s guidance as they grow their own families, and as they serve faithfully in their home churches. We are “Nan” & “Pop” to 5 grandkids: Eli, Ella, Annie, Esme’, and Josie …AND we are extremely excited over sweet #6 coming in the Spring of 2023!

I am beyond humbled by the opportunity to serve at Central. My prayer for our Kid-Central Ministry is to provide nourishment that is needed for children and families to thrive in the Gospel. May the heart of the family and the Light of the church come together to bring glory and honor to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Carol’s favorite scripture passage is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Elaine Kinney Admin. Asst. & Receptionist elaine@cbcwinchester.com

I was born right here in the Bluegrass State and I am a native Clark Countian. My parents moved here when I was 5. I grew up in a family of 6. I was the only girl of 4 children. My mom was a very faithful Christian and taught us all about Christ. By God’s grace, I came to know Him and was saved as a 12 year old.

I graduated high-school in 1991 and pursued a career in Health Care. I worked for many years at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington where I met my husband, Brian, who has been a physical therapy tech at UK for more than 20 years. I also worked with a nephrologist and kidney patients as a Dialysis Technician for about 15 years. I left health care to be closer to my children as they began school and became more involved with extracurricular activities. I focused entirely on my family until I came to work at Central 7 years ago. Brian and I have 2 teenagers: Lucy and Logan. Besides my children, I love my involvement with George Rogers Clark HS, Beer Cheese and Ale 8 One.

Brian and I have been members of Central Baptist for the last 18 years and know this is my home. I love my job as an Administrative Assistant and take great pride in doing my best in what the Lord has called me to do. This is my “go to” verse in life: “I am the vine you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
