Worship

Worship Wide Right.jpg

Worship is central to who are as the people of God.

We are a “chosen race, a royal priesthood,

a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession,

that we may proclaim the excellencies

of Him who called us out of darkness

into His marvelous light.”

1 Peter 2:9

our convictions

We allow God’s Word to dictate every aspect of the worship service. Every song we sing, every scripture text we read, every prayer we pray is planned with the proclamation of God’s Word in mind. It is our hope that every heart will be readied to respond to Spirit of Christ as He speaks through His Word. We also aspire to employ a broad spectrum of artistic expression in an effort to honor the glorious character of our great God. Thus, we are eager to extol the Lord with instruments and voices, in all kinds of prayers and songs. Finally, we seek to honor and obey the scriptures in their example and instruction to teach and admonish one another; singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody with our hearts, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16)

In the pursuit of all these goals, we employ a variety of instrumentation and musical styles. We celebrate the rich treasury of historic Christian hymnody we have inherited from generations past and combine it with the broadening repertory of modern hymnody and worship song being written today. The blending of all these diverse aspects of congregational song insures that worship appeals and, more importantly, ministers to every member of our church. Worship is the ministry of all God’s people unto Him for His glory. So we strive to engage every saint in their spiritual service of worship. (Romans 12:1, 1 Corinthians 14:26)

The brothers and sisters who contribute to our worship ministry —both musically and technically—strive to give God “the glory due unto His name.” (Psalm 29:2) We meet weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays to prepare to lead the saints of God for we believe, “… they are His majestic ones in whom is our delight.” (Psalm 16:3)

If you have musical ability or technical expertise and would like to contribute to our ministry of worship leadership, please contact our worship pastor, Nathan Platt, at nathan@cbcwinchester.com.

“Oh! magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together!” (Psalm 34:3)
